How to Care for a Stainless Steel and Leather Mate

A stainless steel mate with leather covering needs no curing. Just rinse the inside with warm water after each use and wipe the leather with a damp cloth.

Do I need to cure it?

No. The inner cup is stainless steel, so you can use it right away. Rinse it once with warm water before the first use.

Cleaning the inside

Empty the yerba, rinse with warm water and use a soft brush if needed. Dry the cup before storing it.

Caring for the leather covering

Wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth and let it air dry. Avoid soaking, strong detergents and direct heat, which can dry the material.

What to avoid

Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not leave it submerged. Do not leave wet yerba inside for hours.

Quick answers

Is a stainless steel mate easier to clean than wood?

Yes. It does not absorb water or taste and does not need curing.

Can I use boiling water?

Use hot water around 70 to 80 °C (158 to 176 °F) for the best flavor, as with any mate.
