How to Use a Bombilla and How Much Yerba to Add
Fill the mate about two thirds with yerba, tilt it, place the bombilla in the hollow and pour hot water, not boiling, beside the straw.
How much yerba
Fill the cup around two thirds full. Cover the opening with your hand and shake gently so the fine powder rises to the top.
Place the bombilla
Tilt the mate so the yerba piles up on one side, then push the bombilla into the empty hollow and leave it there. Avoid moving it around, since it can clog the filter.
Pour the water
Pour hot water into the hollow next to the bombilla, not over the yerba. Wait a moment and take the first sip.
Keep refilling
Add more water to the same spot each time. When the mate loses its flavor, empty it and start again.
